ABOUT ME

Producer | Director | Videographer | Editor

I remember waking up on my 13th birthday to the sight of my mom pointing a JVC camcorder in my face and saying "Here we have Ross Claffey, waking up to start his day." Upon realizing I had just been given my very first video camera, I jumped out of bed faster than I ever had on a school day. A surge of excitement and energy filled my spirit like never before. My mind began racing with the thought of all the awesome things I wanted to film in my tiny 13 year old world.  I was on clouds the rest of the day, eagerly awaiting the minute I could return home to start exploring this new reality I had just entered. Looking back now, this was a monumental moment; one that has forever shifted the course of my life. A moment cemented in history, the catalyst for a burning trail of passion, exploration, and discovery.

Since that day, my passion has never left me. Like a loyal dog, it has sat by my side through all the curves and bumps that life seems to be full of. The enjoyment I get from creating videos today is still as strong as it was the very first time. The thrill of capturing life through a lens is a feeling I can't get doing anything else. It's indescribable. And while my love for this craft hasn't changed, the variable factor that has is experience. After doing this for 15 years, I've made plenty of mistakes and learned many hard lessons. I've seen what works and what doesn't. Like a blade being sharpened, my skills have become more and more fine tuned, and they are improving everyday. I find that I am always pushing myself to learn more and be better. Self actualization, in my opinion, is the greatest thing one can achieve in this lifetime.

I realize I'm very fortunate to do what I love for work. I understand it's a gift, and so I do my best to enjoy it. Yes life has had its challenges, but I go forward everyday, doing my best to listen to that little voice inside me; that little nudge I believe is my soul showing me the way to what it truly wants. For some their soul may want to experience being a musician, others working with pets; while others still might want to scale skyscrapers like Spiderman. I don't judge. It's the divine spark and it's different and justified for everyone. For me, it's video. I feel alive when I hit record. That magical feeling of capturing a once in a lifetime moment, like a snapshot of this eternal dream called life, will forever give me chills. It's the infinite speaking through me, the purest light manifest. It's my divine spark and I'd like to share it with you.
